Why we built it
Most grapplers film their rolls and never watch them again. The footage piles up with no structure, so the lessons in it are lost. RollLab turns that pile into an organized, searchable record of your game — a film room built for the mat.
We're an Aussie team with 15+ years of BJJ and grappling between us, and we got tired of our training and competition footage being scattered across slow cloud storage and old hard drives — with no way to label, annotate, and organise it so we could actually track our progression across positions and moves.
How it works
Upload your footage, mark sections and moments, and tag each with a position, perspective and rating. Every label becomes a clip you can replay and download, and every session lines up on a timeline so you can watch any position evolve.
What's next
- Autodetection: we're working on recognising positions in your footage automatically, so the app pre-labels your rolls and you just review. The goal is to make studying your jiu-jitsu effortless.
- Mobile apps: we're working on iOS and Android apps so we can all upload, annotate, search and watch our tapes on the go.
